Dim Sum, Chinese and much more

The "China Restaurant Kam Yi" is located opposite of the Hilton Munich City, close to the "Deutsches Museum". Thanks to the large writing over the entrance, it is hard to miss it.

Even though the name might suggest otherwise, the restaurant does not only focus on Chinese cooking but also offers a big selection of Vietnamese specialties, like Vietnamese hotpot. Therefore, we would call it both, Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant.

Thanks to that, the menu is unbelievably huge, written in German, English, Chinese, Japanese and partially in Vietnamese. Despites the big number of dishes, the overall quality of the food is really good. The only disadvantage of the menu is that the staff sometimes mixes the dishes up. Therefore, we recommend using the numbers for ordering the dishes.

We like the selection of Dim Sum, the reasonably priced food and the cheap drinks (considering you are in Munich). A small selection of dishes is even cheaper for lunch (starting from 6 Euro).

The restaurant is spacious and offers a lot of space for customers, even for larger groups. We still recommend booking a table in advance since the place is rather crowded. The staff is very friendly and seems to be from all over Asia (mainly China and Vietnam).

A small hint: If you want to order something delicious that comes with a small show, we recommend the flaming duck.

I was disappointed. The soup dumplings (tang bao) didn't have any soup and were more chewy than anything. The dim sum were okish but too expensive and not so many on the menu. I found them all very average. Also no good choice of tea.
